Our mobile shredding service has received AAA Certification, the highest industry standard from the National Association of Information Destruction. This involves meeting the industry's most stringent qualifications. Sound is the only locally owned company to offer NAID-certified on-site shredding.
Sound Shredding & Recycling's secure warehouse is closed to the public ¡V the only people with access to our facilities are our employees. For additional security, our warehouse is protected by a monitored alarm system. Our warehouse is protected by a UL-approved central monitoring station and system, as well as 24/7 security cameras focused on all entrances to our warehouse. Additionally, all rolling doors are locked and gated between loading and unloading.
Our processes help ensure your compliance with the following federal legislation for the disposal of confidential information:
HIPAA - the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Signed into federal law in 1996, HIPAA applies to the medical industry, and is intended to protect the privacy of Protected Health Information (PHI). If client files and records contain PHI, you must put in place the "administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the privacy of protected health information."
FACTA - the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act. Signed into federal law in 2003, FACTA states that "any person who maintains or otherwise possesses consumer information, or any compilation of consumer information, for business purposes must properly dispose of such information by taking reasonable measures to protect against unauthorized access to or use of the information in connection with its disposal."
GLB - the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Modernization Act. Signed into federal law in 1999, GLB mandates that financial institutions take steps to "respect the privacy of its customers and to protect the security and confidentiality of those customers' non-public personal information."
In all cases, these laws provide for stiff penalties for companies found to be in violation. Are you in compliance?
